Updated 5/1/12 - KY NSF EPSCoR TRACK 1

KY NSF EPSCoR received 15 proposals, which are currently under consideration with external reviewers. We anticipate receiving review comments by the end of May. Review comments and recommendations will be provided to the program's governing board for selecting which proposal ideas move forward. Selected proposals will be invited for follow up interviews with an independent review panel. Interviews will take place in July (either the week of the 8th or the 15th). All 15 groups submitting proposals will receive reviewer comments. A final selection of which research area proposals to include in Kentucky’s NSF submission will be finalized immediately following the July interviews and governing board approval. This summer will be spent working with those groups to coordinate activities and strengthen the proposal in preparation for this fall's submission.

Kentucky NSF EPSCoR Research Scholars Program (RSP)

KY NSF EPSCoR is accepting applications for the RSP. The program seeks to support the research involvement of outstanding students who are underrepresented in science majors.  Women, racial/ethnic minorities, the disabled, and students from Appalachian Kentucky counties are encouraged to participate.  Students enrolled at any Kentucky post-secondary institution are eligible to apply.

Interested students can receive up to $5,000 per calendar year to support their involvement in the research of the KY NSF EPSCoR initiative areas.  The award must be used to directly support the student (via wages, stipends, travel, supplies, or some other direct form of support).  The proposed budget and activities are at the discretion of the mentor faculty.  KY NSF EPSCoR has a wide breadth of S&T focus areas, which include: advanced materials, cellular and molecular engineering platforms, micro/nano technology, ecological genomics and environmental science.  Students must be nominated by a mentor faculty. Applications must be submitted by a mentor faculty on the student's behalf.
