Kentucky NSF EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Initiatives (RII)

Most of the KY NSF EPSCoR budget goes to support a handful of large-scale, focused research initiatives.  These initiatives are well established but need financial support to expand their research capacity and capabilities (i.e., build infrastructure) to create world-class research areas in the Commonwealth.  Researchers across Kentucky submit detailed collaborative proposals that include three-year budgets and a plan of activities designed to create self-sustaining areas of research excellence.  Click here for more information about EPSCoR's currently funded RII initiatives.

Kentucky NSF EPSCoR Research Enhancement Grant (REG)

Kentucky NSF EPSCoR has supported over $3 million of REG awards since its start in 1995. Researchers supported through the REG program have leveraged more than double that amount in follow-on NSF awards and an estimated five times that amount in total, follow-on federal support. The REG program has a very simple focus--to improve research at the comprehensive institutions in Kentucky by seed-funding research projects and securing needed instrumentation. The envisioned outcome of REG support is straightforward--enabling research faculty and research groups at the comprehensive institutions to submit successful proposals to a federal sponsor in the future. Kentucky NSF EPSCoR Research Scholars Program (RSP)

KY NSF EPSCoR is announcing a new honors program aimed at increasing the number of underrepresented students in the program--the Kentucky NSF EPSCoR Research Scholars Program (RSP). The program seeks to support the research involvement of outstanding students who are underrepresented in science majors.

Interested students can receive up to $5,000 per calendar year to support their involvement in the research of the KY NSF EPSCoR initiative areas. KY NSF EPSCoR invites applications for this program year-round. Applications must be submitted by a mentor faculty on the student's behalf. These awards are renewable but cannot be transferred to another student once awarded. The RSP is designed to be a quick-response program. Our goal is to provide faculty/students with an award decision within a few weeks of the proposal submission. Please review the program solicitation for other requirements and guidelines. Click here for more information about currently funded RSP awards.
